I was married for nearly a decade, and so I lived with a woman and her cycles and know it well. Yes, there are mood swings. Men should take cover when they arise.

What irks me is the women who use PMS as an excuse for OTHER troubles. For instance, their psychological/emotional buttons get pressed (we all have issues, all have buttons) - and she reacts more strongly than expected or even necessary (once again, we all do this at times), and tells you to F*** off or curl up and die (or whatever)- then later when she calms down she says “oops, sorry. I was PMS-ing.” Yeah right.

Often hher reaction had nothing to do with PMS - it was all about her own disfunctional self. (and we all have disfunctional elements to our selves)

In other words, I hate how some women blame all their crap on PMS rather than confronting their inner issues.

I understand that many men are becoming more equalist, but why the fuss when I try to hold a door for them? I got there first, I’m just trying to be nice. Don’t worry about me in my heels, I’ll make sure to catch up to the party. And since when do guys really hate watching a girl run anyways?

can l just say, there are PLENTY of us women who still cook and clean and raise the kids and have dinner ready for our husbands and show our appreciation for them.

truth is, it’s worse for some women than others, and it’s different for some women from month to month. I also try to overcompensate by being extra nice while i’m on my period, and have had no complaints from now-husband. it’s something each woman has to figure out, i guess.

P.S. This is just a silly observation, but since reading this post yesterday afternoon I have encountered three men wearing name tags labeled with the name “Edgar.” One at Ralphs, one at Rite Aid and one at Target. I thought that was a funny coincidence.

Chocolate (and often wine too) definitely helps, but I think it’s a two-way thing, like many relationship bumps.

Men need to understand that we feel shitty at certain times of the month, to various extents, and that we are a lot more vulnerable and therefore need a bit of extra TLC.

Women need to realise that this doesn’t give us the right to do whatever we like and behave badly, and that instead of snapping his head off, instead we should just tell him we feel shitty, and could be please go and get us a chocolate / give us a back rub / be nice to us.

For those of us not afflicted by the monthly anymore, chocolate is also a cure for stress. If I’m stressed, Chris’ M&M’s aren’t safe. If it’s really bad, he offers up his Reese’s.

He made mention that while blue balls hurt, he has to wonder if it’s comparible to the cramps & bloating he still remembers so distinctly.

heheh! think me and my girl friends are eternally PMSing and the men just know it when we are and they’d tell us straight on r faces “stop PMSing” heheh! but its quite irritating especially the mood swings. but then we can’t control that. hmphhhh!
