What men really think about body hair.

As per request by Cara Hurley, I will reveal what men really think about body hair. I find this to be an unusual topic, but I guess there is a keen interest in body hair. So, what do men really think about body hair on ladies. Body hair is a masculine trait. Higher levels of testosterone yield more bodily hair in the human form. No surprise, right? When a man views a woman in the context of sexuality, the last thing he wants to think about is another man. Here are a few tips on ways to avoid “butching up” your image with body hair.

  1. Shave ‘em legs. Every woman knows to shave their legs before a sexual encounter. It could be the dead of winter, but a woman will still shave her legs before a date. It is definitely a good practice. However, I would take this a bit farther and recommend that women shave their legs in all seasons. Regardless of what time of year it is and what the weather may be like, you never know when you will have the opportunity to meet a man. Hairy legs? A definite turn off.
  2. Shave ‘em pits. In the mid-90s, I visited South Korea on a church mission trip to teach English. My colleagues and I had a difficult time remembering all the names of the people we were working with. So, we decided to make up English nicknames for them. There was one girl who had the bushiest armpits I have ever seen. We affectionately named her “George of the Jungle”. There is nothing more disturbing than going for a high-five and coming face to face with a mass of armpit hair. Possibly, the worst turn off.
  3. I like your mustache. It makes you look distinguished. Facial hair is also quite disturbing. During my Academy days (I attended a private Christian high school), we noticed one of the women’s dormitory deans sported a 5 o’clock shadow. We later learned that she shaved her face on the regular. GROSS. Seriously… if you have that kind of problem, wax and bleach. Shaving will only create unsightly stubble.
  4. Chest hair and lower back hair. Low cut shirt and a hint of chest hair? Not a turn on. Also, my friend has encountered long, unsightly hairs on the nipples of a one-night stand. When he shared this horror with me, i couldn’t help but be disgusted. Thats simply gross! I mean, if you have them, you could at least pluck them! The lower back hair? Its terrible when a girl gets a tattoo on her lower back, but fails to remove the body hair adorning it. Why would you get a tattoo and draw attention to your back-stache?
  5. The Brazilian. When it comes to the pubic region, the less to see the better. I know the ladies will argue about this, but men simply prefer less. Body hair is masculine. We would prefer not to see a jungle of hair before coitus. Seriously.

When in doubt? Wax. Pluck. Shave. Bleach. Lose it all.

Cara made me do it!!!

  1. Sexist hoopla.

  2. Jack:

I’ll admit it may seem a bit sexist. But I like telling the truth when it comes to how men think. Take it for what it is.

  3. shave everything? you’re young. many men who are older would not agree with EVERYthing. trust me.

  4. Everyone has their opinion on number 5. I like a woman with a landing strip. Enough said.

  5. I’m sure every guy will have a different preference. I say lose everything “When in doubt”. I’m sure most guys would prefer the brazilian over a full blow bush.

  6. hahaha, “full blown bush.” sounds like an evil villian in a superhero movie!

anyway, i agree with this post simply because i have a personal issue with body hair. and if someone finds that offensive, i say too bad. women are always bitching about not understanding men. granted, this blog shares the opinion of ONE man. but come on ladies! don’t ask for the truth if you can’t handle the truth!

    good post.

  7. Thank you hautepocket!

Did you enjoy the Earth Day festivities in Downtown LA?

  8. shave everything..why????
that only makes every woman looking similar and kills erotic IMO

a different ladys are…. why should they be uniformed?

    Nooooooo!!!! Not fair! :-(

I think this is double standards. Come on guys, we are in 2008, not 1908. MEN SHOULD SHAVE TOO.

I don’t mind you saying that hairy bodies are a turn off, but to say it’s ‘masculine’ is not really fair. We are, like monkeys, all supposed to be hairy, men and women.

Shaving is unnatural, but women do it.

Hairy nipples is natural, but women pluck it.

    Just for men.

Yet I cannot stand a man with hairy chest, armpit or back. I insist that they shave it. Then they turn around and say its only women who should shave.

I just think….we BOTH should shave.

    *sobs*

PS: Thanks for the entry WMT. Very honest, I like that.

  10. Dadshouse “landing strip”????

THAT MADE ME HOWL IN LAUGHTER!

    Hhehehehe

    :-p

  11. Cara:

I’m not opposed to men shaving, waxing or trimming.

    I trim.

  12. Body hair is gross in general I don’t know why any woman would want to keep that on herself not to mention on her vagina.

And if you desperately hate body hair on men date a ‘metrosexual’. I have dated plenty of guys with shaved armpits, arms, and balls. It’s all about looking for the right guy… HHAHA I mean…. uhhhhh stereotypes.

  13. I said what I did because I’ve had many relationships. and in none of them, ever, was it asked for, expected, requested, desired, or preferred, that I shave EVERYthing. Nor have I heard this from any of my friends (of a certain age, as am I) that their men wanted this or preferred it.

I am not offended by it, I just don’t agree that it’s the majority of men who feel this way. Maybe a certain age group, perhaps, who have had much easier access to porn, in which this does seem to be imperative, have been influenced to expect women to shave everything. The media is a powerful influence on everything else, it would not surprise me that it has influenced a generation of younger men in this way.

I have a friend, who’s male, who teaches on sexuality, and one of the things he talks about is how when women shave everything, they mimic pre-pubescent bodies. I agree with him. Why is this considered sexy? To have the pubic region of a pre-pubescent?

    Not normal, IMO.

I also have a friend who lives in LA, as you do, and the culture there, according to him, expects this. Not true in other parts of the country. He agrees with me on this.

Everyone has their preferences, I agree. I like hairy men, but if someone isn’t hairy, so what? i don’t ask them to grow hair :)

  14. Brenda, I agree fully with you. There is only ONE relationship where a full shave was a desire and even asked for….and furthermore it was from a guy in the LA area. He was under the honest impression that ALL women “just do that”.

Maybe in LA, but not everywhere. Fortunately, I am engaged to a man who doesn’t care if my legs get a little stubbly, or if I let the bush go from time to time. He still loves me just the same….and even gets just as turned on by me when we’re intimate.

  15. I have to agree with Brenda. The totally shaved look does not make me feel sexy in any way cus it just makes me look pre-pubescent in that…erm…region.

Now, a little LANDING STRIP ( a la Dadshouse, chuckle, chuckle)…that looks totally hot.

    :-#

  16. Hmm… so the landing strip seems to be the popular consensus? I think thats cool.

  17. I would agree with all except the brazilian- I believe in trimming but getting a wax down there does not seem like a pleasant idea! I also think that a guy shouldn’t expect a girl to have a brazilian if he also doesn’t!

  18. Personally, completely natural in the “Brazilian” area is the best.

Don’t try and style a “landing strip”. Might as well shave everything off if you’re going to do that.

  19. well I wrote “Less is better” the degree that each man prefers will be an individual choice I suppose.

  20. Andrew, what’s wrong with styling a ‘landing strip’? I think if done elegantly, we can pull it off. I like the look of the cute triangle :-$

Redhead wrote: “I…think that a guy shouldn’t expect a girl to have a Brazilian if he also doesn’t!”

    I totally agree!

  21. triangle… yepp… why not ..good..
